Dental Implants
For a variety of reasons, sometimes teeth can be lost or damaged beyond repair, necessitating extraction. Dental implants offer an effective and permanent replacement for missing teeth, ultimately giving you an improved dental aesthetic and better function while chewing and speaking.
How Implant Dentistry Works
The procedure involves a thin titanium anchor being placed into the gum, where it will fuse to the jawbone. After about three to six months, the fusion should be complete and a permanent artificial tooth placed onto the anchor. Temporary bridges or crowns can be affixed while the anchor fuses to the bone. The new tooth is custom-designed and color-tinted to match the surrounding teeth, giving you a natural-looking appearance and results that can feel like your original tooth. Patients that do not have a strong enough jaw-bone to support the implant may not be candidates for the procedure; however, there are alternative dental treatments that can provide effective results.
